Article Response (last one)
“The Accidental Masterpiece”. This titile gave me something. I think what article says to us is that sometimes, unexpected accident can make better outcome than we think. I thought it was interesting when we discussed in class about the artist who used thirty-six one dollar bills to illustrate a one dollar bill, and the final piece was purchased for more than thirty-six dollars. That idea seemed to tie in with the urinal example from the article. In reality, when you think about it, what’s the difference between Duchamp’s 'Fountain' and an ordinary urinal? I mean art world is crazy! They are buying 'Themes' not 'product'. Like Nam June Paik said, Art is Fraud! But thank god that this article says people are more enjoying to go to museum than go to baseball field!
Article Response (Walker & Barrett)
In Walker's article, he says the term 'big idea', and I think that is really important when you start artistic work. Like he says in the article, brainstorming is very important process to accomplish the art work.. I think brainstorming is very useful, and I have used it mostly for English class projects. It is always helpful because a simple word can be associated. Also, in article, there are many explanation about brainstorming and instruction, meanings. This made me think of the reason of brainstorming and how there are so many things a person could make in an art piece by using big ideas.
I see the connections between using big ideas and art production. In the Barrett article, I really liked the idea of making process that cut and past version of Ray Charles drawing. I thought it was interesting how each person will look and use the environment (or sources in my words) and gives total different outcome. I also liked the analysis of the denotations and connotations in the Rolling Stone cover with Destiny’s Child was interesting. It was surprising that using magazine and mix total different person, and make one complete new face gave huge shock to me.
I think it was a very straightforward article, and also it was easier to under stand than the last two articles, so I really enjoyed it.

Article Response (Cheese monkey & hazard zone)
I thought the “The Cheese Monkeys” article had a very interesting ideas about the relationship between oposite and our society. For example, everybody say move left to right, and also we read texts left to right. Why we act like this? Because we had been educated that way? or because our brain set that way? From this article, we can ask ourselves about black & White theory and how that works. Such as Top vs Bottom, small vs big, or good vs. evil
I am really like his writing style. It has a somewhat of a comical tone to it, so I really like it. However, I am confused by the article title. After reading the article a couple times, I still do not see how the prelude and the rest of the article relate to each other.
This 'hazard zone' article had dealt with many basketball theme. It was very interesting how the author compared basketball to art. In basketball the players have to be creative to get through the tough defender, and they are praised and remembered for their moves, but if someone is creative with their art work, for example like Jackson Pollock, it takes a while for people to catch on sometimes.
I thought that changing rule to basketball is a very interesting idea, but for me author claim about changing rule means no rule. I mean, there is no rule in art, but if you set the right way, then it is easier to make better art, and I guess no-rule means think freely!!!

Final Project
Well, since my final PJ is 600 mb, so I already showed my video in the class. This project had many meaning to me. First, I made clip for my birth place, which is Chicago. Korea is the place where I had my childhood. California is the place where I graduated my high school. A kid who plays piano is myself because I used to play piano when I was in elementary student. New York is the place where I used to work, and Ohio is the place where I am staying now. As you can see, I am a person who had been everywhere. I guess that makes me something special
I had to install YouTube downloader, to download many videos which connects to my theme, and I used 4 different music videos and 6 different city views. I used Logic Pro to make BGM. It took a lot of time to make this video, but it was fun because it could express myself in short way. I know it is too cliche, but sometimes cliche can give best message toward audiences. I believe this clip can show 'who I am'.

Drop & Spread
My words were drop and spread. When I hear those two words, in my mind, I thought about something liquid. So, I decided to show how water drops into paper towel, and how that spreads out. I used my iphone app. called 'GameYourVideo', used slow motion, to show how water spreads out into paper towel. Yes. water represents 'drop' and paper towel represents 'spread'
Yes, I know it looks really amature, but sure that application is something! Anyway, combination of drop and spreads reminded me something really visible, but hard to catch. in my mind, water came out and I decided to take those to show my representation of words

SUPER HERO & PLACE
If I were a superhero, then I would be the Superman. Yes, the Superman. I always wanted to be the Superman because I think his power is the most amazing power that super hero can have! Because I am a type of person who regrets past time, and always want to go back time and change things that I made for mistake.
Also, when you think about the Superman, he can go everywhere even Mars! Outer sider of the Earth is always give me curious feeling, and I always want to be there! Time and space, I think that is the reason why I love the Superman! Also, with that super power, I think I can seduce any girls like Eminem!
I found those images through Google search. First, I found the image of superman, which looks cool to me, and I searched the space picture to place my own 'Superman'. I used my MP2 picture to change superman's face to my face. Also, the clock represents time changing, and I also fond those images in google. At last, the reason why I chose Eminem's 'Superman' song is because I think the lyric represent WHAT I RELALLY WANT TO DO WITH SUPERMAN"S ABILITY!!
If I were the Superman, then I will be at the place that I can see the Earth beautifully, out side of space. May be flying around planets and enjoy those things!!! Yes! I want to be the Superman!!!

Space & Me
This is my favorite place, west gate of Tompson Library. Well, you can see No-Smoking sign in front of it, but I erased 'No' because that is the place where I smoke a cigarette before I go for study, or cigarrett break. Also, when the weather is bad, it protect me from the bad weather. I know it's non-smoking area, but who gives a damn? That's my spot! and I can do whatever i want to do!
Some people asked me 'is cigarette larger than your life?'. My answer is 'well it is part of my life, but not larger than my life'. I think this is a bad habit that I can relief my stresses. I guess that is the reason why I smoke a cigarette.
The sculpture represent my favorite cigarrett, and that's that place where I actually smoke a cigaratte. Burning cig and cigarrett box can represent well WHAT I DO IN MY SPOT.

Collage of 10 pics that I love
I overlayed 10 pictures that things that i love to my personal picture. I located every piece that is related to my body part.
For example, I always listen music, so I put my headset picture next to my ear, I always smoke cigarettes so I put my cig. pic on my mouth, and I always think about money so I put my wallet picture next to my head. And deep in side my heart, music is always with me, so that is why I put my keyboard to my left chest.
Oh well.. I really love cigarettes. If someone is a heavy smoker, you know it is really hard to quit, and if you have money just for cig or food, most of us choose cig instead of food. I mean.... not because of media, I think I get more idea while I smoke a cigarette. For example, when I making music, I smoke a lot because I cannot think any good sound or melody. Sometimes this can help me to think deeply and give me more idea.
Also, music part. I love music. I mean I really love it so I even make my own music!! I always wanted to be a famous producer like Kanye or Dr. Dre. And still, I am working on it to achieve my dream!

Trip to my class
This is a my map to my class, from 364 West Lane Ave, which is located north side of campus, to stadium class.
I set my map as a football field, and mixed logos that I see everyday when I go to class. Every time I go to my classes, I have to pass Seven-Eleven and walk across through the Lane Ave. And I have to pass huge parking lot in order to go to my classes. Before I go to class, I always stop by at the cafe in Knowlton Hall and drink Chai Latte, and go to my class. Those icons on the map represents what I see when I go to classes. Signal represents a signal that I have to pass everyday, and those car brand icons in the middle of the map represents car brands in the parking lot. I realized that I pass through many cars when I go to class. It was a fun project because it reminds me how I go to class and also gave me new way to look the way to class.
Well, the reason why I chose this way to express my way is because I think going to school is like on the foodball field (in many ways). First, you have to watch out the 'player (cars)', also you have to make competition between your classmates (players). Well. I think this could be the mini-map of life, which if full of competition and fighting like in the Football Field!!!!

Thoughts about Walker article
In Walker's articles, he argued about that how artists prepare their portfolio, and ways to make those. He said that big idea is important in art piece. He said that every piece needs big idea. What is a big idea? It is like thesis statement in a research paper, or anything broad concept in the art piece. I believe that most of artist has big idea, and those can be found in easy way, but also it could be in hard way.
He said that it could be any object can use for their art theme, for example, Van Gogh used his broken ear piece used as art theme. Also, many artist used extraordinary object as their art tool. These days, theme is more important than what is used for.
I agree with this article that his idea of "big idea" that artists have, but I have question that does every pieces have to have big idea?
